I haven't used them recently but several years ago my regular vet saw something on my English bulldog 's eye that concerned her & recommended we see.a Canine ophthalmologist . The one we saw did a very thorough exam and reassured us it was not a tumor or anything life threatening. Expensive? Yes but worth it in my opinion

I've only had excellent experiences with Fifth Ave. The front desk staff is helpful and seem to really care about your pets. The doctors were thorough and didn't push for unnecessary tests or treatments. They are expensive but that's to be expected. They're 24 hours - you can visit your pet at anytime. They can treat your pet for basically anything - none of this is cheap. Sometimes additional tests or procedures are necessary to establish what's wrong with your pet. I'd rather err on the side of being too cautious than missing something.
took my cat about a week ago and saw a practitioner at this location for a emergency and he looks and checked my cat an told me there was nothing wrong with him to just take him to the local vet and send me home with my sick cat told me cats are lazy and not to worry about it. the next morning i took my cat to my local vet to find out that my cat has pancreatitis his pancreas in inflamed and my baby is sick the vet is saying that it could be a 50-50 chance with my poor baby thanks for nothing now I'm heart broken not knowing what's the outcome with my baby. i would not recommend this place to anybody at all find some where else to go to but here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot speak highly enough about the vets and surgeons there. For those who say they want to talk money, they are in a business and it's not a free clinic. The care and attention to detail my cat Samantha and now my dog Asta has received has been extraordinary. If you want to go to vet that is very well priced go to the Humane Society on 59th and 2nd Avenue. An appointment there is 30 as opposed to the usual vet fees of 75 just to see your pet.
I noticed my puppy walking into walls and unable to find me or his toys. I brought him in and found he had suddenly become blind in both his eyes. They wanted me to do cataracts surgery to fix his eyes but i told them i couldn't afford it so they gave me eye drops instead and sent me home. after a few months i was asked to come back in. the same thing his eyes were still not working. They didnt tell me to do the surgery with them instead they referred me to Cornell university. i just received a follow up call to make sure my dog was okay from the vet who helped us. Dr. Mondee was amazing
I have used FAV for many years, spending thousands of dollars there, (yes they are VERY expensive) and they have been 'GOOD' in the past but this weeks visit was completely unacceptable. The dog was brought in with vomiting and internal bleeding and the front desk staff was unable to locate his medical chart for review. It took us going home and pulling up past bills for them to find it. My partner signed an estimate, but had them remove a very expensive test. I spoke with the doctor later that night and she must have misunderstood me when I said 'do what is needed in an EMERGENCY TO SAVE HIS LIFE' as run the test that my partner refused, and had removed from the estimate an hour earlier, even though the dog was stable and was doing much better on IV fluids. The test was in direct contradiction to the signed estimate. Be very careful when using FAV. Make sure you're clear with what test you do NOT want them to do or they will charge up your bill.
DON'T TAKE YOU INNOCENT PETS HERE they MAN HANDLE THEM! Petting and hugging is fine but kissing him all over and pulling at my pets skin is a bit much when he was already clearly nervous. I was present during the exam and I know what they do, the nurse technician held down my pet for the entire duration of the visit even when he was not getting blood drawn or shots she had her entire body weight on top of him and did not allow him to move or breath for 10 minutes. When I told her I did not like how she was treating my pet she said "I'm getting really agitated right now.." I know that in a customer service business, especially one that deals with the lives of people's pets it's important to remain professional and kind regardless of how you feel. After all, I am the customer spending good money (hundreds if not thousands) at the clinic and talking to me like that was really off putting! I have been to less fancy clinics with much nicer and more attentive staff. I paid 700 to have my cut tortured and terrified of going back to the doctor.
