Rough and ready is the best way to describe this place
like
Great pub. Barman is friendly and helpful. Drinks are good quality and not too expensive. Pool table available and a good price. Pretty small, but that's a plus in my books.
Our original 5* score was based on the "good old days". We used to love this place circa 2013-2017 but it seemed to change ownership and quite clearly went downhill under the new management. On our last visit (admittedly a year or more ago) we found the place to smell of used toilets, devoid of any warmth and to top it off the other clientele were particularly unpleasant at that time. Great pub with an excellent atmosphere
A well run little boozer. Good beer and good staff.
Whilst working away, we found the little gem. We was made to fill very welcome by the young bar staff. We had a few drinks and got talking to a few gents within to bar. I've never felt more comfortable whilst having a beer while I've been away for work. A great atmosphere all round. I highly recommend this place.
We had a really good evening here although the music was the loudest I've ever heard even from down the street. Would definitely come back
Very rude manager and generally poor customer service. I would recomend many other pubs in newbury above this. Unless you are one of the local cliental, I would strongly advise to avoid.
