Wouldn't bother with this one ! A well behaved party of 6 of us went there for a celebration meal and it turned into the proverbial nightmare. Kept waiting for two hours for our food, charged a fortune for drinks, ignored by the staff and in the end served very mediocre cold food that they managed to get wrong as well. Next morning we all had deli belly, so not happy at all. You'd be better off anywhere else !!

DO NOT waste your money here. 6 of us waited 2hrs for food including a lengthy wait at the bar drinking expensive Kingfishers while 'a table was being prepared' despite empty tables away from the windows. Then the waiter kept wandering off for 10 minutes at a time while taking the order which was then wrong. Plus not cooked properly as in my case it decided to make a re appearance in the early hours. 30 down the toilet, literally.
Unfortunately the service at Lucky's has really gone down hill. It feels like too much work for too few people! Still great food though
Wow! Fantastic attention to detail and incredibly welcoming. [Mr] Lucky's clearly invested alot of time, money and love into making this place a winner and his staff are 1st class. We actually only popped in for a takeaway but being peckish we asked for a little beer (rude not to) and some poppadoms. It would have been very easy/appropriate just to throw a dish of them at us but no; table got laid out, dips, china and all. The food was beautifully prepared and the ingredients were first rate. I'll be driving the extra miles for Lucky's in future. Well done and keep up the good work.
Would not recommend, eat out very regularly and particularly at Indian resturants. This has got to be be up there as one of my do not Ever go backs and I mean ever! Went just after 6 expecting it to be fairly quick for service but I was shocked very slow food lacked quality and portions to small for a meal. Starter was bland and lacked salt and had sent back. No one came back with a replacement or come back to say sorry. Mains was a small and made to look larger with lots of onions thrown in. In the end left it, as no one came to check up asked to speak to the manager and just said thats just how we cook it and its expensive to add more meat into the dish. Anyway he did nothing. So paid and left. Over priced one beer at 5.30 which to be fair was good and that's what they get the 1 star for. Mains dish 16.95 a joke for what it was. Lots of great places to eat in Newbury avoid this place if you want a decent curry and good service.
Food was tasty and staff were average for customer service but I'm assuming we were a bit under dressed for the place. portion were small in comparison to cost .
Good service. Staff were polite, we were a big table so food was understandably a little slow, good menu options, decent price.
Friendly attentive service doesn't make up for average food. Generally under spiced.
