The guys who work there might be slightly nerdy, but to their credit, they always bend over backwards to be very helpful, and the service is very good. I'd be very sad to see this store depart if in fact Maplin did close its doors. Yep some of the prices make your eyes water, but if you need things in a hurry these guys usually have something that fits, or in one case they shipped it in from another store the same day. I still buy from them all the time.

The online price was different from the one was displayed in the shop. But the staff was very polite and explained me the reason. 5 Stars for staff 4 for the issue.

The shop could do with being bigger but the staff are great. I would i given 5 stars if they could work out how to stop my wife from rushing me!

Maplin is extremely expensive, I'm not sure if it's just not keeping up with e-commerce as a brick and mortar business, or it is relying on a share of the market that doesn't know any better. You can easily find yourself looking at an HDMI cable priced at over 20, unnecessarily. I buy packs of rechargeable batteries from them and that's it. There is no computer parts shop in Newbury for even the savvy hobbyist.

Love browsing this electrical store which stocks a variety of electronic products from batteries to drones.

When you enter a specialist store like Maplin you do so because you generally know what you want, and know the products. My experiences have been repeatedly disappointing with staff loitering/gossiping around you and not knowing the products very well. The worst part is being approached, being asked in a very robotic, and seemingly scripted way if I needed help - before I even get my 2nd foot through the door. No, I don't need help, I know what I want and if you are cheap enough, I'll buy it, IF you are not in my face and pestering me. The over-zealous approaching of customers and lack of knowledge is disappointing and the range of items basic, but the store is tidy and clean.

On the smaller side but always well stocked with helpful staff.

Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Shop slightly on the small side.
