Attended for the Herirage Open Days event. Lovely to be able to look around and get to to take a peek at a beautiful piece of Newbury's history Plenty of people there enjoying both house & grounds but never felt crowded. Really enjoyed the informative talk on the house & its his by the manager - WBC have struck a good balance between historic gem & commercial asset.

I love this place! We attend a lot of their events especially the ones for children. On this visit we did the gingerbread hunt and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it. Such lovely grounds too!

Had a course here. The grounds are beautiful and the house has so much history, am planning a return visit with my family so I can spend time looking at the art that is a great feature of the property. It would be a wonderful place to visit to have tea and cake from the cafe and sit people watching for an hour or two outside on the seating provided.

This house is run by and looked after by West Berkshire council. The house was saved by them and a lottery grant. Don't expect lavish furnishings or lay outs like National Trust or English Heritage. It's a good place still to visit with lovely gardens to picnic in. It had a cafe and toilets but best of all is free to look round. To help in the up keep please leave a donation it's worth it and will help keep part of English history alive
