Great Tier 2 experience, felt very safe, staff well briefed in hygiene protocols. And a great first festive meal of the season. Well done to the team there.

At the Star today Well organised re cv19 friendly attentive staff . Excellent meal we chose fish and chips with salad garnish tartar sauce . Great value for money. We stayed for a long chat and coffee with out been hassled. Worth the 2half hour drive for me to catch up with great friend in relaxing clean friendly environment. 5 star

Nice little pub. The food was tasty - especially the salt and pepper squid. We also had the Dirty burger and the fish n chips, which were lovely. Perhaps cook the sweet potato fries so they're a bit less crispy. Staff were friendly and helpful. We will be back.

An attractive country public house with a good menu offering a range of starters, mains including steaks, burgers, pizzas and the usual "pub classics" with some good pudding options. We had booked as a party of eight and were given a warm welcome on arrival for a lunchtime meal. Although we were advised that there was no scallops the prawn and lobster cocktails were the most popular starter which we all enjoyed. My wife and I chose the cod and chips for our mains which were well cooked and very tasty. Unfortunately two of our party had meals (belly pork and a chicken pie) that had been overcooked and had dried out. Other meals were fine and enjoyed. The waitress apologised that two of the puddings listed were not available and then had to apologise again when a third pudding once ordered was also unavailable. Those who managed a pudding did enjoy them although the sticky toffee pudding could have been hotter. Both the men's and ladies toilets could have been better. Two out of the three ladies toilets had no loo paper which was inexcusable. Overall we did enjoy meeting up here and may return in the future when hopefully everything will be spot on as the place is warm and comfortable and the staff very pleasant.

Super pub with lovely staff. My steak was a wee bit disappointing but not bad enough to complain about. Still a favourite. EDIT: 2 WEEKS LATER: visited again today and absolutely wonderful once more! Firing on all cylinders and I can't recommend The Star lunches enough. Delicious and brilliant service too. X

The food was amazing, I had the hunters chicken snitzel and it was the nicest meal I've had in a long time. Took a chance on the flower pot for pudding and it was full of flavour 5/5 stars from me!
