Venue is in good condition not worn or showing its age. Good views of stage from all seats upstairs as its quiet angled and seats are comfy. Bars toilets both upstairs and down.

Attended the Wharf Review here on Saturday night and was really impressed with this venue. Lovely interior design, comfortable seats and good access.

Beautiful old theatre very well restored Great acoustics, staff are wonderful The building is almost as much of a draw as the touring performers

Ocean Alley was epic! Civic Theatre was an amazing venue for this live music event Great night. It has been the best for 2021

Very pleasantly vsurprised by he interior of the theatre which far outweighed my expectations from the exterior. Magnificent arched theatre with exquisite ceilings in a building which is clearly loved and well maintained. Review was also excellent. Great afternoon out.

Not very steeped so you can't see if the lady in front has a tall hair do. Needs renovation but otherwise a great theatre

What a beautiful place this is. I could honestly spend hours in here just marvelling at the historic art decor. It's simply magnificent. The service here was impeccable. I was received with a very warm welcome, & the staff couldn't have been more informative, friendly & helpful. The only things I think could be improved to make the experience there better, are the seating, & the popcorn. It's great that you can take food & beverages in with you, but the seating needs to have somewhere you can put them, rather than on the floor, or on your lap, & my opinion of the popcorn, was that it was pretty plain & dry, & could be improved. Everyone loves warm, buttery/salty popcorn It was my first visit here in the 2 years I've lived in Newcastle, & I saw The Personal History of David Copperfield, which was an amusing, whimsical, quirky & entertaining film. I haven't seen a show here yet, so that's next on my list.

Chess was wonderful. Nothing like live productions. Civic theatre is just beautiful.
