Five stars for the wall hahaha. Randomly stopped here to check out what this was. Really pleasant surprise. Got some great photos and read a bit about the history. Hadrians Wall build by the Romans 122 AD spanning hundreds of miles. These days it almost looks like the original wall sits under some of the local houses. That would be intersting i imagine. But at least here you can still see remenants of the old wall thousands of years old spanning hundreds of miles. Appears that locals at one time removed parts of the wall to build their own houses

Was in Newcastle and in the North, the Wall (Hadrian's Wall) is recommended, especially for the history inclined. Better preserved samples may be seen but some travel is required. Those short of time can check the Denton Hall Turret for a quick acquaintance for this incredible engineering feat. A short trip by bus from Newcastle train station and some bit of walking and you could explore the Wall, with life going on all around you. Was a good trip. All the 3 places that I saw the Wall within Newcastle were in good state

Finding little bits of history in the middle of the suburbs is always rather cool. We enjoyed our detour up Turret Road to find this piece of heritage and scramble over it, with the West Road rumbling by just the other side of the railing.
