Great place with equally great staff. Love it here as it always has a quality selection of old and new to choose from and Richy is always on hand to help.

Great independent record shop specialising in vinyl. Celebrating 30 years in the business and still a treasure trove of rare and hard to find records. Often stocking records you won't see anywhere else. Friendly and knowledgeable staff who are also music fans and happy to help find what you're after. Also stocking a range of vintage stereo equipment. Strongly recommended for any crate diggers.

I've been to most record shops in Newcastle at this point (the only exception being Reflex records). I used to run straight to Beatdown Records, the one near Central Station, every time my pay slip went through. Recently I went to the Old George Inn, a gorgeous little gastro pub alleyway in the Bigg Market area of town, and just happened to notice RPM on my way out. As a vinyl enthusiast, I was absolutely stoked. Today was the first time I purchased anything from RPM... and for such a small shop, they've got so many good finds. Its like a bloody diamond mine! (Seriously, nowhere else in town seems to stock ELO vinyls... except for Windows, but they con you out of every penny). The staff are exceptionally helpful, and the prices are really phenomenal. Something I've noticed with many record shops in Newcastle is that they seem keen to price their records ridiculously high (as much as I love them, Beatdown are guilty of this too). RPM's prices are the best you will get for vinyls of a high quality in the town centre. For example, I've included the vinyls I bought today. Bowie - 'Let's Dance' (12inch Single) - 6.00 ELO - 'Out of the Blue' (12inch DOUBLE LP) - 10.00 Both Phil Collins LP's were 3 each. Seriously that's fantastic. I'd probably pay well over double than that anywhere else in "the toon". I also mentioned the friendliness of the staff, but it needs saying again how kind and approachable they are. To be honest, most record shops in Newcastle do have great staff and service (except for Windows in the Central Arcade, bunch of toffee nosed snobs). Like if you can't find what you're looking for in the main room of the shop, just ask a member of staff and they are happy to check in the back for you. So helpful, so charming. Spectacular. Spread the word people; RPM is categorically THE BEST place to go if you need vinyl records in Newcastle.
