Newington Sanitation is the town department that coordinates refuse pick up. They are extremely helpful in resolving issues and work closely with the town's commercial refuse pick-up vendor. These are the people who coordinate large item and metal item pick-up. They also have all the answers as to what you can throw out and how to have it collected. They have been able to resolve quickly and happily any problem that my neighbors or I have brought to them. An added but little-known bonus is the overflow recycling dumpster on site. If you're green but have filled your recycling can up, you can bring it over and empty it into the overflow recycling dumpster at no cost. Do be warned that there is a camera on the dumpster that's monitored at the police station but it's really not an issue if you're just doing what you're supposed to be doing.
