A really awesome hike.. but with that being said might want to plan ahead. Getting to the tower isn’t that bad. Cool hike down the gorge, beautiful views. The tower is also quite awesome.. a little bit of free climbing to get to the top, the view is breathtaking.. if you continue down to the river there’s a cool place where you can jump from cliff.. I’d say 30-40 foot. Good swimming area. Another breathtaking experience.. is the climb back out, even just from the tower. Definitely need to go prepared.. the hike out isn’t for just anyone.. I’ve never been so happy to see my car, it’s a extreme hike, but extremely worth it.

Such an amazing hike! I didn’t totally know that views we are available like this near Linville Falls. The important thing about this hike is when you come finally after 1 mile there will be a large rock do not keep going down to the right. That takes you down to the river. Make sure you go to the left of the rock tower...go down a little way and then climb up the rocks to the most amazing view.

A challenging 2.5-3.0 mi round trip hike with incredible views if you don't mind rock scrambling. You'll want a good map (I use all trails) because nothing is blazed or marked (it's a true wilderness area!)

Trail offers beautiful views of the gorge and river. The trail is steep and not recommended for those who are not fit.

Loved this hike in the spring - cool, breezy and could see the ridgeline through the trees most of the way. Trail to base of tower is established but there are many offshoots to the river once you're there. To find your way up the tower follow path to the right 30' then climb up, traverse rocks (set of boulders with narrow split between them) on the other side you'll see a trail that hugs the rock wall. Follow down and watch for steep path on your right leading to the top. Tough hike out as everyone says but well worth it.
