Over the many years of my life I’ve had many, many dentists including a school dentist in Cornwall who I believed filled teeth that didn’t need filling and another one many years later who said he could straighten my teeth when in fact he made them a lot worse. Needless to say today, I have a really embarrassing mouth full of old filled and crocked teeth and I’m not overly fond of dentists. So last week I met the my new dentist Ushma at Newlands. I can honestly say she was the best dentist I’ve ever had. She listened to my concerns and she never rushed me. She didn’t make me feel embarrassed when she saw my teeth. She didn't judge me but was kind, compassionate and explained my options in great detail. When I had to go back to have a tooth refilled, again her care and skills were amazing. She explained everything she was doing as she went along and I'm very happy with the results. Thank you Ushma for finally restoring my faith in dentists. xx I also want to add as I’m on the extremely vulnerable covid list, I was worried about going to Newlands for emergency treatment but it was an extremely safe environment and they have taken every step possible to keep everyone safe.

I have been a patient of this practise for 25 years and up until recently I would not fault the treatment I've received at all. However my last appointment was with a new dentist Saroj, since Ana had left the practice. I displayed symptoms of sensitivity and pain to hot and cold, I was advised that my tooth was most likely cracked and to be removed. I was very insistent that I didn't want to loose the tooth so my old filling was removed and a new one placed. 18 months later I was back in the same pain and sensitivity, I asked for and appointment but was not able to be seen for some time, so I opted to go private. I was told that the flling had been placed over the bare root chamber and that it was full of infection and that there is no crack at all. I was given antibiotics and told that I need a root canal which will cost me 800 due to roots been so curled. I am now waiting to see if I can be treated under the NHS specialist. I have made a complaint with regards to my treatment and not received any apology or explanation. I wouldn't recommend since the changes have been made to this practise.
Andrew Brown is wonderful, and not critical of my not having visited a dentist in a while. He explained everything he was doing in a calm measure and has a lovely manner. The nurse (sorry I didn't catch your name!) was incredibly personable and kind. Thank you to both of you for making all safety measures feel calm. The staff have absolutely smashed it on the covid precautions. I felt safe and cared for.
Excellent - start to finish, professional, efficient and very gentle. No pain at all. Highly recommended.
