I had nothing but positive feedback to give this surgery up until about six months ago, they were always incredibly responsive and helpful. However over the last six months getting an appointment has been nothing short of a joke. Routine appointments are around a 4-6 week wait, needing something more urgent you get told to call 9am on the Monday for that week and then you call on a Monday to be told all the appointments have gone for that day and to call tomorrow. Something really needs to be sorted out for the booking system.
Well I've only just registered at this surgery as I moved to the area recently... unfortunately I have had a health issue arise out of nowhere, which has meant I have needed to see a doctor a few times recently, the doctor was left to take care of prescription for me last week and asked that I call beginning of this week to confirm collection... when I called to enquire as instructed by the doctor the answer i got from the receptionist answering the phone, "what do you want now". How very rude to talk to the patients, this person needs training how to deal with people, I responded " what do you mean, what do I want now" she went quiet obviously realising I was not happy about this. I will be complaining as people in these jobs should be there more so caring and compassionate. I'm considering moving surgery now, we all have enough to deal with in our lives let one a grumpy moody receptionist that clearly has a loose mouth.
After years of feeling utter dissatisfaction with various Gp’s across many different practices. On my recent visit to Oakfield I have to say Dr Barkley was the best,most professional and personable doctor I have had the pleasure of meeting and she is a credit to this practice and profession.
I have found the GPs very good at this practice - particularly Dr Rayner and Dr Stewart. I think the system of allocating a patient to a GP is particularly helpful, as your GP gets to know you and your medical history, which can be very useful in treating long-term conditions. The only reason for four stars instead of five is that I don't find the appointment booking system particularly helpful - whereby you have to ring at 8am on the day to get an appointment - as I am normally on my way to work at this time! You can ring Monday morning though for an appointment that week.
Dr Lara Stewart who is based at this surgery is the best doctor I've had in many years. Not only has she helped me to finally become well, she has helped my daughter also with her health problems.
