The Cherry Tree has been open again for around 10 months after being closed for a considerable amount of time for refurbishment and is now under new ownership. I think we must have visited on a day when they were experiencing staff shortages!! We had to wait well over half an hour for us to be asked what drinks we wanted, and then a further 40 minutes wait for our food to arrive! With regards to the actual meal, we opted for the Sunday Carvery (12.50 for adults and 8.95 for children) it was ok. You get to choose from 4 different meats: beef, turkey, pork or gammon. However you don't go up and help yourself to vegetables etc. Its all dished up for you so you don't get a choice in terms of selecting your favourite veg, and I could tell that the roast potatoes and parsnips were the frozen variety and not fresh! We got asked if we would like any condiments with our meal, and as I was having the beef I asked for some mustard and about 15 packets of it were put on the table. To be fair, Anthony who I assume is the owner/ manager was very apologetic and offered us free drinks and desserts as an apology, but as we had waited so long we had to decline this offer as had other plans for the rest of the afternoon. Overall, despite the offer of free drinks and desserts on the house, we wont be rushing back there. Now that the Haver Arms in Haverhill has closed permanently, I think that would be perfect for a Toby Carvery as the residents of Haverhill need somewhere to go for a decent roast on a Sunday! Oh, I nearly forgot about the 'free' small pot with about 6 olives in that we were given, but didn't eat as didn't think they went with a Sunday Roast dinner - in my opinion it was a very odd thing to do!

Great meal, freshly cooked and very tasty, served hot. Good atmosphere, very friendly and helpful. We had a great dinner, especially as it was 15.00 on a Saturday.

Sunday lunch with the family today. The carvery was really good (4 choices of meat) and a great selection of fresh vegetables. Homemade apple crumble was delicious. Child-friendly and would definitely recommend this pub

Sunday lunch was delicious. All home cooked and plentiful. The best cauliflower cheese I have ever tasted. My only silly criticism is the very thin paper napkins and the cutlery could do with being updated. The service was friendly and good thought the drinks were a little overpriced however will definitely go back again this time would buy a bottle of wine In stead of by the glass.

The food when we got it was lovely the problem was that we had to wait over an hour to get it and when you have a 2 Yr old with you that is not good. Not enough staff to give a good service tho they were very polite. No menu for vegatarians. Don't think we will go back

Had a 80th birthday party here with 22 guests and all the staff were very helpful, very friendly and communicative throughout our whole experience. Delivered on all requests and nothing was too much trouble. All our guests commented on how well looked after we all was. The food was very good and at a good price and all special dietary needs were met. Very pleased and would highly recommend. Thank you to all staff for a fantastic time. Will definitely be coming back again.
