Staying at the Headland Hotel, of course you would have an expectation of the quality of any affiliated businesses. However, I can easily say Dom at the Surf Sanctuary far surpassed that expectation. My girlfriend and I met him for a 2 hour session, both as complete novices. Within 20 minutes we were in the sea for the first time, with an essential toolbox of information given to us on the beach. Hurrah! I popped up at the first time of asking! And my girlfriend at the 3rd attempt. The following 2.5 hours (yes, almost 3 hours in total) was spent floating in the Atlantic waiting for the perfect wave, talking to Dom who, far from your classic surfer archetype, was an articulate and intelligent bloke, dropping knowledge bombs left, right and centre! Would recommend, and cannot wait to go again! Cheers Dom!

We have just spent the most amazing two days on an Atlantic Expedition with Dom and Al. Their combined knowledge was unbelievable and we felt privileged to spend two days in the water with these two guys. They made us feel really comfortable and they were so professional and patient and their teaching was exceptional. We are are family of five, the ‘kids’ being 22, 19, and 16 and we all truly had the time of our lives. We have paddled before but are not very confident on the open water. This is not just a SUP tour, we were taught about the tides, the wind, the moon, how to read maps and apps, safety and rescue techniques. I would not hesitate to recommend this two day experience to both create some amazing memories and of course to learn so much about this fab sport.

My friend and I had a couple of one-to-two surf lessons with Dom of the Surf Sanctuary. I have had a few surf lessons with different instructors before and but the sessions with Dom were outstanding. He is extremely knowledgeable about all things ocean and watersports and passes his knowledge on with joy and enthusiasm. He really empowers students by making them understand the basic principles of surfing and then holding a safe space for them to try for themselves. Thanks to Dom I feel a lot more confident in the water than I did before. The whole Surf Sanctuary team were super friendly, welcoming, helpful and fun and we will be back for sure.

I have just spent two days with Dom More, Frazer and Lawrence taking part in a touring and sup surf instructors coarse. Dom is extremely knowledgable and a very experienced waterman. He is one of the regulars out surfing the Cribbar, an infamous big wave spot or kite surfing equally challenging spots. I can seriously recommend any water time you can get with Dom, regardless of your past experience. Beginner or advanced.
