I went here for an early lunch with my daughter and three grandchildren whilst visiting the area, after failing to find an empty table at any of the other cafes in Newtown, and we were very pleased that we did. The staff were really friendly and very helpful, (especially regarding meeting the various idiosyncratic needs of small children), and the food was delicious and plentiful. The staff even gave us containers to take away what the children didn't manage to eat (we were warned that they probably wouldn't manage all of the food we had ordered, in one go :-)) I would definitely recommend it, and will go there again the next time we are in Newtown and needing a lunch stop.

Ive been here for food but not been for a while due to illness, so as I'm back on my feet I looked forward to getting back to my walk around town, food and a cup of tea at duos. How wrong could I have been, the cafe now has a new owner who is rude to staff and customers. The food is poorly prepared, presented and lacks the quality it used to. Duos was known for its large portions and friendly atmosphere as you always managed to bump into somebody while eating there and end up having a natter. This is now very awkward as the staff make you feel like you've outstayed your welcome by clearing up the moment I finished my meal, asking every five minutes whether I would like anything else. (if you're spending more money or have food or drink on the table you are fine as long as you are prepared to keep a hand on the plate or mug otherwise it's swept away from your grasp to move you on. I'm aware it's not a social meeting hub for old people but as there were plenty of free tables and chairs I didn't understand the need to make me feel like I was a nuisance. I won't be going back as it's lost all of its charm and atmosphere!! I love local shops and produce but places like this are why the high streets are becoming empty.

Terrible bacon buttys. Bacon anaemic and under cooked. Some of staff are Unfriendly. I have heard its changed owners now so look forward to trying the new menu and new friendly staff.

Excellent value sandwiches. Not for pickers but good ol doorsteps. Great bacon sarnies.

Wonderful. Stopped here for lunch on long journey back from South Wales. Stopping in Newtown probably a bad idea! But finding Duo's more than made up for it. Best Welsh Rarebit ever.
