Since the closure of Genie's Fish & Chip shop (undoubtedly the best the town ever had), we've used Silver Fish a few times but aren't overly impressed. While portion sizes and prices are good, we find the batter too thick and greasy, and the inside stodgy on each occasion. A lighter, thinner batter (more like a tepura), as Genie's was, would be a definite improvement, as would slightly longer cooking of the chips. I hope this review will be looked on as constructive criticism as it is not, in any way, meant to be destructive!

Usually good hot food. But tonight terrible.3 lots of fish and chips where cold. Kabab pita bread was hard and stale. Chips looked like the end of the day mostly just the overcooked crispy bits which were also cold. As I said unusual for this place. Maybe new staff

Small, family run fish & chip shop. Always looks spotlessly clean, prices are very reasonable and the portions substantial. The owner and his daughters are always very welcoming, polite and cheeful. Since covid-19, the shop has offered a pre-order and collect service and has implemented a good social distancing policy for their customers to follow. Service is fast, the food is consistently good and parking is rarely a problem in the evenings.

We come from the Midlands and were on our way back home when we stopped to get some fish and chips from here.... They were absolutely gorgeous and the fish was quite large, much larger than at chippys near us, the chips were lovely and chunky... My lad has autism and he is extremely picky with his food, he had the southern fried chicken with chips, he loved them.... He much preferred the ones he had here than the ones we have local to us.. can highly recommend.
