REACH is a great organization that is still spreading literacy during COVID. REACH is giving away free books to ensure all kids can have books. Go to their website to check them out!

A very long time ago, around 2000 while in my 20s, I volunteered with this program. We went to homeless shelters located in Norfolk and read to the kid residents there and also made crafts. The children, as well as the parents, looked forward to the story time. That small story took the children to a fantasy place for a few and they were able to let their creative juices flow when making their craft. I was put in a fabulous group in which my peers came up with the best stories and crafts ever. It's good to see that this program is still thriving. Feel free to donate to them on their website or Amazon Smile. Every penny helps bring a smile to a kid's face. The kids I read to are now grown and may be parents themselves. I wonder if they remember the story times or realize how they blessed me? I still think about them after all these years.
