What a rip off. Called in with a faulty ignition coil. Mechanic insisted we need to replace all 4 ignition coils 4 spark plugs, quoting 960 all up. Refused to only replace the faulty one. When asked why he wants to replace 8 parts when only one is faulty, he just said "if you don't like it, go to Cairns to the dealership, they can help you out". Well knowing that he's the only mechanic in town and it wasn't safe to drive to Cairns like this. Found a guy in Karumba who replaced one ignition coil for 75, for a genuine one (Top Servos quote was 180 per coil). Went to the dealership in Cairns who tested it and said all the other 7 parts are absolutely fine and won't need to get replaced any time soon.
