This is my son’s second time being at Norris. The first one was about 9 months and this current one will be just over a year when he discharges. We have been to 3 other facilities and I’m here to tell you this is by far the best one. I’m not scared for my son when I walk out after a visitation. My son is VERY verbal and will tell me when something happens. Of courage would rather be at home with us but he does like it there. It’s a very structured environment and that’s what he needs. He has learnt more there at the school than he ever did in public school. The Therpist are very hands on and want the parents to be involved. The management is wonderful. If I have a problem I call Marta and it’s taken care of. I knew the doctor before she came there and she is wonderful as well. She loves these kiddos. As with any place/jobs there are ups and downs. I truly feel like the staff cares for these kids. They get on their level and play with them and interact. Today when I dropped my son off they were having a carnival outside with a bounce house and games. They even brought in horses for them. If you are needing treatment for your child please consider this facility. As a mother I’m truly pleased with them.

Can personally say that you need to stay as far away from this place as possible. Higher ups, maybe just maybe think about how a non-verbal can file a complaint. For employees, you do not need to use camera angles to cause harm to children. You are there to help them, not to see how long you can keep a chokehold on a child. For anypne thinking of putting your family here. Conditions are horrible, children are abused on the daily, mental and physical abuse. I know a whole lot about this place, just google kingston Academy if you wanna know more about these type places.

This facility needs some major improvements in staff. My son was there just a week, when he got abused by a staff member. These children are here for their anger and anger people do not need to care for them. Most are non verbal so who knows how many have been abused. Staff curse the children and put defeat in their mind. Please look elsewhere for your child's help.

I'm a little late with my review but the people at this facility were all so kind and upbeat and I just wanted to let everyone know that I am grateful for Norris Academy and always will be
