This golf course is now closed. But the old course has left a great area for wildlife especially for birds and butterflies. Birds seen are Skylarks, Meadow Pipits and Whitethroats. Butterflies seen are Peacocks and Red Admiral. If walking on the old course beware of the sand bunkers that are now over grown, you might fall in.

My mum and Dad invited us to join them at the Whitekirk Golf & Country Club for their 51st Wedding Anniversary today and whilst we loved the view of the blue sapphire sea around the Bass Rock, the experience in the restaurant was driech, dour and dire. After waiting for 3/4 an hour to be served in a half empty restaurant we experienced the following: 1 - There was no salad dishes on the menu. 2 - My mum received a Blue Cheese Burger instead of a regular Cheese Burger, when it was brought back, it was cold... 3 - My mother in law had to go up to the bar to ask for a spoon for her soup. 4 - My daughter received the smallest burger on the biggest bun without any butter, I was so agog, I took a picture (see below) 5 - Neither of my daughters could eat their children's salad garnish because it had a mustard dressing on it - Duhh 6 - The fryer had broken down so there were no chips on the menu, haven't they heard of oven chips? Whilst they did take a few hot drinks off the final bill because my mum expressed her disappointment, my dad told them despite numerous pleasant experiences in the past, they would never eat there again. Sadly this was my mums last wedding anniversary as she passed away a few months later.
