No, there is no 24/7 service. Here (on Google), at the 111 and even on their own website it is stated that it has a «urgent treatment centre ... which cares for patients with minor injuries and ailments open 24/7». My wife had such a «minor» emergency; following this information took a taxi from Cramlington to come today at 5:30am, and it was closed. Workers said it opens at 8am, they were well aware that there is misleading information everywhere and nobody cares much. I'm just glad it was not a life threatening issue, but a serious hospital should care about the information on opening times. Really unsettling being in the hands the people behind this.

My friend is on Ward 22 having suffered a stroke. When I phone to ask how she is I get no where because vI'm not family. Rake Lane is a useless hospital. Having been bitten by a rat I presented at A & E as it was then. When the triage nurse asked me what had happened I explained I had been bitten by a rat. Her next question was - 'was it dead?' Say no more. For the intelligent inhibited like the triage nurse, dead rats don't bite! Do you want to be treated here? Unfortunately the same triage nurse is still working there!
