Very dog friendly pub in bar snug area. Food was very good, no salt on chips, which were excellent. Maybe people could be correct about it being maybe a few quid per head pricey but it probably allows the management or couple who own it to pay reasonable wages. We found the waiting on staff polite and attentive if a bit busy. The credit card machine process slipped up a bit because there didn't seem the opportunity to leave a tip. Visitors to area. Would recommend. Read some of the other comments about limited menu options, we thought it was excellent. That were they expecting, the hanging baskets of Babylon?... No pleasing some people.

Food was good, However took ages to come! Was out with the work colleagues for lunch and we were there for 2hours! Maybe should be considerate when there is large work lunches. But apart from that great food :)
First couple of visits were great here but standards seem to have dropped more recently. One drink arrived with a fly in it, one main arrived with someone else's chip included which doesn't give the best impression of quality or attention to detail. The food tasted good hence the 3 stars but we wouldn't rush back. A shame really because the interior and setting are excellent. we have visited 4 times, first 2 times were great, most recent two not so much.
Went here for the first time today. A proper gastro pub! The outside suggests a warm spacious interior, and it delivers. The inside is well looked after and has a variety of different luxurious chairs, The staff were all friendly and helpful. They had alcohol gels and track n trace. The food was delicious! Well thought out, good flavours, excellent quality - what you would expect from a gastro-pub. Real roast potatoes, not the usual half roasted ones. The pork belly was well cooked and melt in the mouth. We had the sticky toffee pudding and mixed berry crumble - both were excellent. I can easily recommend this place for a date or family meal!
I went twice to this place, to be pleased twice. I recommend.
Lovely building, easy to find, large car park. Spacious inside and quirky decoration, nice garden. Well equipped for covid with spaced tables and hand sanitizer to use. Sunday lunch was lovely, the pork belly very tender, only lost out on 5 stars due to green veg
Disappointing, over priced for what is on offer and the quality isn't that good either. We ordered the calamari, it was overcooked and rubbery, the "dipping sauce" that came with it hadn't been prepared properly as the bottom of the pot just had a layer of mayo. Ominous and sadly turned out to be a signpost of what to expect. I ordered the burger and my partner had the steak sandwich which was classed as mediocre at best. My burger was very much in the same category. The lettuce and tomato were drowned in the cheese sauce (more on this sauce later!) and we're soggy and wilted, the tomato was the heel of the tomato and about a quarter of the size of the burger. That aside, if you're going to make a burger with a cheese sauce, instead of a cheese slice then it isn't going to support the inclusion of soft veg, it needs punchier robust ingredients like onion and pickles. To be fair the onions were put on the side though why they weren't included with the burger from the start, I don't know. The "pickles" were cornichon, not the same as a proper dill pickle that can stand up to the strong encompassing cheese sauce. The cheese sauce... Too much of it. Not a great flavour to it and it's sole role seemed to be masking the texture of the burger itself which was dry and a bit crumbly. The fries were good, the beef dripping sauce was good, if they were offered as a side on their own if I went again, I'd happily order that. It's a nice space and they've put a lot of effort in with the decor and the furniture, but the service was slow, I had to get up and go and find someone to get the bill and considering it was a very quiet lunch service that is inexcusable. Small things like asking for salt and pepper that never arrive, slow and cold service and overpriced food are individually almost excusable but together they really pack a punch and I will be avoiding the Fox and Hounds in the future.
An absolutely stunning country pub! Absolutely love it here! Staff are super friendly and attentive; and the food is amazing! Tables were well spaced, staff social distancing and sanitiser points all over, making us feel so all the more comfortable! Already looking forward to our next visit!
