I was sad I only discovered this place towards the end of 2020 lockdown cause I honestly would have went every day from the start! Fantastic food, coffee and menu. Great vibe and staff. Bring back picnic boxes !

What a nice cafe in Northcote. The staff are so welcoming and the drinks and food come out so quick. We ordered the lamb Benedict. A great dish where the dill and minted salsa complimented the dish overall. The rosti was rather soft mashed potato filling than the shredded potato but it was so well made with a crispy outside. Topped with tender pulled lamb, the hollandaise is slightly tangy and paired well with the perfectly cooked poached eggs. The mother's big breakfast was great. The crispiness of the bacon paired so well with the scrambled eggs and sourdough bread. The smoked chorizo was so flavoursome and the mushrooms had a slight zest to them. I loved how fresh the avocado was and the dehydrated truss tomatoes were so juicy.

This is one of the best cafes in Northcote. Super friendly staff, delicious food, and consistently good coffee make MM the complete package. The best part about working from home is having these guys around the corner!

Really good food and friendly staff. Rhubarb danish pastry was devine, and the big breakfast was so big I couldn't finish it . Can't wait to come back here!

Mother is my local neighbourhood coffee and brunch joint. For me, it's my pick of the area. Darius, Fernando, Claudia and the rest of the team are super friendly, warm, and human. They show genuine interest in conversation. Service has always been impeccable for me, and on the few occasions I've seen someone get a mistaken order, it is fixed quickly with no hesitation or fuss. The food is high quality across the board, from the snacks all the way up. Coffee is Melbourne-standard, which is to say very very good, and consistently so. I get a lot of coffee here and have never had a bad one yet. They are also innovative and willing to try new things—during summer they offer a Picnic Pack for takeaway to nearby All Nations Park. Plus on weekends during the brunch-rush, they open a side-window for takeway orders so that they don't get slowed down too much. Of course it's not goibg to be quick at 11AM on a Sunday, but nowhere is, and I like that they have made a solid go of alleviating this as much as possible. Bonzer beaudee ripper mate. Good people, good coffee, good nosh.
