Did an access course at city last year and honestly wish I’d gone elsewhere now I’ve started my degree. Tutors didn’t take the time to understand my pathway, was told multiple things I did were “wrong and wouldn’t be accepted at university” when in fact they have been for my specific degree and was completely left in the dark when it came to lockdown & Covid, know I could’ve achieved a better final grade if we were given more support during lockdown and if I had gone elsewhere where my pathway would’ve been taken more into consideration, overall if you’re a mature student looking to return to higher education I urge you to look at other higher education institutions as city college really only care about whether you get into a university for their stats and records and this is evident by the teaching, students who applied for “better” universities were given much more time, attention and care for their work, the lectures ended up being focused on their pathways much more and those who looked outside of London unis weren’t given nearly as much attentive teaching or tutors time.

Giving this review on my experience when I went to do an English GCSE course (enrolling day) a few summers ago, the tutor who assessed my work basically humiliated me Infront of the other students' by not being subtle in my mistakes. I get it is her job to tell you these things, but, she done it in a passive aggressive tone which I did not appreciate. She then went onto talk about how her sister had relapsed with anorexia as I mentioned I studied Health and Social Care and plans to go to University... I thought this was very odd thing to mention and I felt uncomfortable the whole time being there. I enrolled but dropped the course because of my first impressions of the college. Looking back, the tutor was under alot stress as the day was unorganised and chaotic.
I came to this college, with seemingly no hope of a future, all my friends moving onto better things, and into an environment where nothing was familiar. I left it going to my top choice university, more confident having made some really good friends there, and being given hope about my future as a whole. I can't speak for everyone, but the people I met there were amazing, both staff and students alike, and for me at least the Sixth Form, most of all the Psychology department, was extremely engaging and informative with their teaching in a way I haven't seen before or since. It is the only institution I have gone through that I feel had the support required for students that was easily accessible to them. City College Norwich doesn't deserve the reputation it is given, it is far better than such; I hold it in the highest regard, and words don't do it justice how grateful I am towards them.
Deadest management going. Level the whole site n replace it with a swimming pool
Quite possibly the worst educational establishment around. The teachers spent their time either not present or sitting doing work for their other job, had no idea how to teach or what to do and when something went wrong they would find a way to blame the students, punish the students and were only able to control the course by constantly making threats and being angry. I was kicked of my course because the college didn't do their duties that they promised me and the class throughout the year and when enrolling. Since joining my life has generally gotten worse and the college knows this yet does nothing to actually help. Do not go here if you actually want to go somewhere in life :). If anyone needs I have proof of this and will happily show the world.
