I first used Tophat back in 08 and had a great experience. Staff helped me select an outfit, ( I went as Huggy Bear, the pimp). I had accidentally broke the heal on the platform shoe and was sure I'd lose the deposit. To my surprise they gave me back my deposit and basically told me, "these things happen". Fast forward to now. I find myself again needing an outfit. As it had been awhile I had to check online where they were located. I happened to read the reviews (which were bad) and was disappointed. I just thought they must be under new management. Despite the reviews I went anyways. I was a bit nervous going in, but the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They were quite busy but didn't seem rushed or flustered and were quite cheery and helped me select and find accessories to add to my costume. I will gladly use them again and highly recommend them to anyone else.

Most of the items for a ganster themed night (hat, tie and braces) are good quality but the spats are very cheap and significantly more expensive than I could get online (and so was expecting better quality). Trying to separate the velcro and one bit has come unstuck. Glue has seeped out from around the buttons and one spat is missing chunks wher it had clearly got stuck to the buttons of another ( but not the one it was packed with) The shop won't refund or exchange (I was warned when making the purchase) so I would suggest opening and checking items before purchase.
Great choice, friendly staff. If you cant fine the costume here... it doesn't exist ;)
