Not recommended for Alzheimer’s. My Mother was wrongly advised by a senior member of staff at Alder House that the care would be suitable for my Father. He was falling repeatedly, often left unattended, averaging 3 times per week. Upon visiting, I found him to be unwashed, wearing dirty clothes, often with food down his trousers. I had to ask for him to be showered. I complained to the care home manager, as I was obviously extremely worried. The complaint letter was never responded to from my mother. My Father was evicted with 7 days notice during lockdown, this was apparently due to my (quote) “threatening behaviour”. As we were frantically searching for somewhere else, my Father was admitted into QMC over Easter weekend with a suspected hip fracture following another unattended fall at Alder house. He waited 1 week for an MRI, contracted COVID-19. My now late Father and our family experienced inhumane treatment at Alder House. We are still and forever will be haunted by this experience. My Father passed in July 20. Only now am I feeling strong enough to share our experience in the hope that others families with not have to go through this.

Alder House is a stunning home which boasts some fantastic areas for residents and their families to enjoy together (cinema, private dining area manicured gardens, library and vintage tea room to name but a few). The management and staff are dedicated to providing the best possible service to their residents. I would recommend a visit to see for yourself

My mum has been in Alder House since February 2015. It is not a care home it is home from home. Mum's memory is not what it used to be... but is treated with dignity and respect by all staff. The staff are kind and considerate to her needs. She always looks smart and is treated how you would want your parent to be treated. The home is like a five start hotel with an amazing dining room, cinema, sweet shop, library and hairdressers. There are activities throughout the day to stimulate the residents. There is never a dull moment. And every day is a special say. The staff and residents are one big happy family. I would not hesitate to recommend the home to anyone looking for somewhere safe and caring for a loved one. You are able to go home at night knowing that they are safe, well cared for and loved.

I have been coming here for several years now and have always been impressed with the friendly atmosphere, exceptional facilities and first class attitude of the staff. I can't recommend Alder House highly enough for care and attention to detail.

Alder House is an amazing place to work and visit. A very friendly and welcoming team. Everyone is caring and goes above and beyond for each other and for the residents. Amazingly warm reception from the front of house and a family feel throughout the home. Great Housekeeping team, dedicated care staff, friendly and supportive management, a good choice of food on the menu and plenty of activities on offer daily. It doesn't matter which department the staff work in their main priority is the well-being of the residents.
