My mother hired MDV lawyers for a child custody issue, and it was horrible; to the point that I am now doing a law degree so that other families don't have to go through the same thing. The experience seriously affected our family, far worse than it should have. Melissa told my mother that she would probably lose all of her custody, and charged extreme amounts for doing almost no work. Luckily my mother hired a different solicitor and rightly got almost full custody of my siblings. Every other legal professional we have spoken to since MDV have been disgusted at the service she received.

I have recently left MDV and hired the services of another solicitor. The main reason for do so was I was concerned about the level of experience that my solicitor had and how that may effect both costs and the outcome at final hearing. I had previously been told that Mellisa Vine would be able to represent me during days in court as she has the most experience, however that did not play out in reality. The reason I am giving such a poor review is the unprofessional conduct of the firm after changing representation. The firm has refused to release to my new lawyer the digital versions of the three affidavits I paid to be drafted over the period. They have the files, but are refusing to release them because seemingly they are trying to seek their revenge for leaving them. Over the 18 months I was with MDV I spent around 40k with every bill paid on time. Even with that in mind they have behaved in this manner. Unfortunately family law is a hugely stressful experience and one I don’t wish on anyone. What I should have done was shopped around, however I went with MDV because the only thing they conduct is family law, figuring they were best placed given the experience the firm must have. Looking back on my time, a hell of a lot of money was wasted largely in part due to the experience of the solicitor assigned to me. If I had gone with my new solicitor from the start I would have been much better placed financially and emotionally.

Took 3 months just for a A RETURN PHONE CALL FROM a MELLISSA VINE solicitor from Nowra. She couldn’t even tell me she would not take on my case, instead I just wasted time ringing every day while concerned for my sons welfare. She seemed happy to take on the case but then IGNORED ME FOR MONTHS.
