awful hospital. I voluntarily signed myself in , but after a few days I requested to be released because Ocean is a psych hospital for people who really need help and I was not a danger to myself or others. They refused to release me and said I had to stay because they had me committed. I said can I see the paperwork, signed by a judge, that said I was committed. The doctor yelled at me and said she don't have to show me nothing. I don't think they had me legally committed because nothing was wrong with me. Once released I called the patient advocate asking for commitment paperwork and she told me she cant make the hospital release stuff. Then what is the point of a patient advocate. WORST HOSPITAL EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very disappointed with Hearing my wife call me complaining everyday for 5 days telling me that she is starving and as soon as she gets out I have to stop to get her food bc the food y’all make them eat is very basic (egg sandwiches with potato salad for dinner or red beans for lunch which most people would not eat or find appetizing including myself). This sounds even cheaper meals than found in prison institutions. I’m sure it won’t hurt Oceans to spend enough funds to provide better meals for patients. That’s the least you can do for people that are in bad places in life is give them good food to eat or at least better than an egg sandwich. Come on.

I have been a patient about 5 times I think. Each time I have had to be admitted the staff was very informative and answered all my questions. While inside the nurse's and Tech's took their own time to help me.

Staff regularly refused patients drug information sheets, on the premise that knowing the side effects of the medicine may make patients not want to take them, and furthermore, lied to patients about what side effects may come. I just wanted a new antidepressant, and they ended up discontinuing my antidepressants, anti-anxiety medication, and my sleeping medicine, and completely changed all of my medicines in one day, mostly from medication that worked to meds that didn't. In the middle of a panic episode, a nurse told me that I'd benefit from a group therapy she was leading... It was a sales pitch for her 60/hr reflexology sessions. I mostly ended up pretending I was doing better just to get out.
