My mom was placed here in the geriatric unit. Imelda was great and also Stephanie. Andrea was very rude and raised her voice at me when I was asking questions about how to care for her. Very non sympathetic. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!!! Everyone has a different story. Not one of them are on the same page.

I have been to oceans several times. I can honestly say that they have helped me and that the majority of staff really care. I have had several one on one conversations with all of the adolescent staff and a handful from the adult and geriatric units. I can understand why the hospital gets so many reviews that are negative. It isn't because they are actually bad. Many patients who come to the hospital are not used to structure which many times is part of their problem, when these patients meet structure they view it as adversity and because they have yet to have structure they have yet to learn resilience. I honestly believe that every bad comment is someone who was just upset about the structure of oceans and reading these comments it becomes apparent. For example there is a review that said they put their friend in a straight jacket and didn't allow him/her to interact with the other patients, I would like to make clear that Oceans Behavioral Hospital does not use or even have straight jackets. Anyone who says otherwise is just trying to scare you away from help that you may need, or that your loved ones may need. This post is being written during the covid-19 outbreak, Oceans is good about reminding patients to wear masks at the appropriate times, obviously wearing a mask in a 24/7 environment is not always going to be possible as you have to eat, sleep, and brush your teeth. The staff are all also wearing masks throughout their entire shift and sanitize regularly. As far as treatment goes it will help if you allow it to, you can lead a horse to the water, but you can't make it drink. I encourage anyone reading this to take hateful comments with a grain of salt and welcome Oceans with an open mind. Thank You, have a nice day.

I was recently hospitalized for extreme self harm and suicidal ideation, they didn't look after my cuts once (they were deep enough to need stitches but I waited 24 hours before I went to the er so they couldn't stitch them) My doctor, the Mr babinsky red head lady REFUSED to TREAT ME because of two of my medications were \adult medication\ I told her I have been on those medications for over 3 years and never had a problem until we raised one of the non \adult\ medications, she told me that I rather can be transported to a different hospital or be discharged. Thank god those three days was enough to get mt meds stable, I left as soon as possible. The building is also old and in one part the ceiling was falling, the \tables\ we had was white foldable bbq tabled, and we weren't allowed to have journals exceot for certain times, and punished everyone for sharing social media including me and another patient sho just arrived when it went down, journaling is my #1 coping skill and never have I had a hospital have restrictions on journaling. They also have puzzles and cards which aren't even whole decks, and a few board games, nothing else, males and females share the main area and aren't allowed to speak to eachother or nothing in the day room while being seperated by 8 or so feet, this place isn't the worst I've ever been to but it's still high on the list One girl also had a episode and they locked her in the room where the bathroom is, she brome the toilet and harmed herself. Head nurses were strict and rude, they got upset because I told another girl to read the Patient Rights board because a man I met who worked in big spring behaviour hospital told me I need to read my rights. I was never given a document about my rights as a patient, she nurse lectured us and demandmed why we wanted to look and read it and was angry.

They treated me for depression by having me color everyday. No therapy nothing.
