This place has really improved with these last few months. I have been there a few times in the last couple months and have been throughly impressed! The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. They are introducing new rolls to the menu and also planning more happy hours and lunch specials. The owner is amazing and so is the main sushi chef.

Food is pretty good and decent proportions. Sushi was good for the price. The place could use some sprucing up. Dusty and could use some fresh paint. The service was horrible. Never saw our waitress but twice, to take our order and we had to hunt her down to get our check. Never re-filled our drinks or asked how anything was. Food was good enough to make up for the lack of service.

Overall, a waste of money. I was greeted by the sushi maker. She greeted me and then sat down in the booth behind me and continued talking on her phone. She talked about cocaine and how she punched someone the night before. My server was nice. I got my sushi roll, watched sports on tv, and left. The roll I had was decent

This sushi bar competes with Tonya just up the street and has supposedly been doing sushi for 30 years according to what the chef told me. I sat at the bar, looked thru the menu and found comical names for some of the sushi rolls such as, "I can't believe its not dragon roll." While waiting for my order i walked along the bar checking the place out since i was the only patron there. Normally the sushi behind the bar looks fresh and is well stored but here their sushi looked old and the containers all had plastic wrap poorly covering the containers. One of my rolls was partially toasted and it appalled me to see the chef place my sushi in a toaster oven behind the counter that looked like it hadn't ever been cleaned. Ultimately the chef was bragging how he was using extra large eel just for me but when i finally got my meal everything about it was poor. The sushi lacked flavor, was falling apart and even looked shriveled up. The pieces were small and unappetizing. I spent almost 50 and i feel cheated. I wont return here. I recommend the sushi restaurant just around the corner from this one or head over to 12th st location.

Waited over an hour for my food because they accidentally gave my order to someone else. The tuna sashimi was still partially frozen. They did offer me a complimentary roll, but i declined as I wasn't that hungry and i was ready to leave. I was charged full price for my food that i waited an hour for...

I enjoyed my visit. I like the food and the main Chef was entertaining to talk to.

Shin Sei is just as good as Tona, but cheaper with bigger sushi rolls, so really, you're getting more for less without losing quality

Worst service I have ever experienced. I will never waste my money there again.
