You want to know why I give this school 5 stars? Two words, Ms.Cohan. She is my rock, my role model, and the shining star that leads me through the dark days of my middle school career. I couldn't imagine my life without her. I wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for her kind words, amazing teaching, and big loving heart. I cry myself to sleep every night knowing I won't be able to see her smiling face every day in the years to come. I will always remember her not as a teacher, but as my BEST friend. Whatever you do, please just send your child to Georgia O'keeffe middle school so they can be blessed by Ms. Cohan's holy spirit. I will always love you Ms. Cohan, with all of my heart.

Dedicated principal and staff try hard despite funding cuts, tough kids and over-crowding. The school encourages individuality and respect, academics are good and keep striving to be better. The old parts of the building are part of the 1939 Roosevelt administration Public Works Project. Check out the beautiful Art Deco tile work, small murals and office doors that are still intact and working. There is also interesting Masonry on the side that faces the Yahara River.

I feel like the teachers don't understand how to teach some students , although some teachers are pretty good

I'm currently in my second year here and it's no going very well. In my first year, after graduating elementary school things changed slightly. Rules are stated clearly here and still the students disrespect the staff and break them. I don't have a problem with any school work or the teachers but the students just give me a headache. No matter how many bullying reports you fill out or harassment forms, the staff really doesn't do anything much but talk it out then everything continues. There's way too much swearing, disrespect, and labeling in this school. It's so hard for me to make even just one friend I can talk to that I know will listen and actually care. O'Keeffe isn't completely horrible, the teachers do an excellent job teaching but I am just not as comfortable in this school.

This school is very underrated. People are always complaining about "how terrible" O'keeffe is. But the only thing that makes it bad is the unappreciative and whining students. shout out to mr moen. if he wasn't here it would be two stars. also ms. kintzer is pretty great. I would give five stars if the students would stop being so irritating and over dramatic.

Came for my daughter's choir concert this evening and all I could see is disorganization everywhere. I am very disappointed in how things were handled this evening. The choir teacher acts as if the concert is all about her than the kids. The choir teacher was having inappropriate conversations with 2 female students prior to the arrival of most students and their families. There were kids running all over the gymnasium with no control or authority preventing them from doing so. I expected more than what I seen this evening.

The teachers try hard to keep control and teach, but nothing helps. Sometimes in a class i dont learn anything from the content they are teaching. Im in 8th grade and the science program we were using took two days to explain how night and day works. Most of the students in the class learned this in 2nd grade. Until these things improve my review will stay a 2 stars.
