Old Lyme Children’s Learning Center has been a huge community resource to my family. All three of my children went through their programs and as a working mom I never had to worry about their care. When my babies needed to be rocked they were rocked, and when they needed to be supported they were supported. The center remains a special place to my family and two of my three children have been employed by them during their high school years. I cannot say enough about the staff, the directors and the many friends I have made through the Center along the way. Their preschool program is top notch and unlike any program that has since been established recently. Grateful for the OLCLC!

Our daughter has attended OLCLC since she was 14 months old, when we moved to Old Lyme. She has moved through the baby room, toddlers, and into the preschool. She has loved and bonded with all the teachers, comes home with adorable projects, and generally arrives at school and is off to play with her little friends before we can say goodbye. She has made excellent friends in this program, and always comes home with new things that make us say "where did you learn that?!". When the weather is nice the kids spend lots of time outside. The program also brings in or seeks out programming, the kids walk to the library for story time, and have had lessons about dental hygiene from dental professionals, and generally make use of the excellent resources that surround the center on Lyme Street. Communication from the school related to health concerns, schedule changes, or other similar information is timely and informative, we have never been left feeling like we don't know what's going on.
I have used OLCLC for the past 8 years, for daycare, preschool & before & after care. I have always trusted them with my children and found that they cared for them, guided them, taught them and played with them. Every teacher and staff member that me and my kids dealt with was nothing but kind and compassionate. I would recommend OLCLC to friends and family because I had a great experience with them as well as my kids! I never worried about dropping my kids off because I knew they were in great hands and cared for.
OLCLC has been there for me and my family. Taking care of my only son Mylo since he was a little one, now he is 6 years old and attends the OLCLC after care program and he has always loved going there. I am grateful to Allison the Director and everyone there.
OLCLC is a wonderful, nurturing child development center. Their programs range from infants to pre school, fostering supportive transitions between them. All 3 of my children attended and still have life long friends from those early days. Likewise, we parents still maintain our friendships. I am especially drawn to the hands-on activities like dress up, legos and gardening. The child development educators are well groomed and undergo additional professional development training. Moreover, there is opportunity for high school students pursuing a career in child development to assist. It is quite remarkable to see a dozen toddlers learn to flip on their winter jackets, step into their pants and boots and ready themselves for the outdoors!
I agree with all of the one star reviews. This place is definitely not run as a proper dayCARE should. I capitalized care because the irony is that they don’t care for the kids and by they I mean the directors and one specific teacher who creates a very toxic environment not just for the children but also for the other teachers. Teachers have quit because of this person and told the director that’s why they quit and yet she still works there! She tells the kids to stop crying instead of trying to help them feel better. She also constantly tells the other teachers to stop picking the kids up and consoling them when they are upset about something! Clearly this person has no clue how to care for kids especially the young ones. My son went or the before school program a few treats ago and I couldn’t wait to get him out of there! I realize there is not much choice in Old Lyme and so I get why people have to go there but it’s really too bad its such a bad environment for the kids.
Garbage place, the employees gossip and don’t take care of the kids, they don’t like when you question them. False accusations of children being mean. You send your Children with food and a beverage and all the snacks and beverages are still in the lunch box... don’t send your child there.I wouldn’t have given them one star but I was made to give them one star just to make this review
