Having lived in Saddleworth for many years the Museum was always an enjoyable place to visit. The nostalgia of items on display are sure to give visitors an insight into lives and lifestyles of the people who lived in the area in times gone by. There is also an excellent art gallery where many local artists display their work and pictures can be purchased if the visitors want to take home their own constant reminder of this what Uppermill and the Saddleworth areas had and has to offer.

Interesting museum on the history of the area. Industrial, agricultural and social. Sections on prehistory, geology, manufacturing. Well presented with good informative displays. We spent just over a hour there.

Great local history museum in the centre of Uppermill. Although there are only two galleries downstairs and one up you get a very condensed history of the area in the space that is available. Your only going to be spending around an hour in here but it's well worth a visit. The only downside I found was as there is a charge to enter the museum this doesn't seem to be easy to find out much it will cost from the website and it didn't seem to be posted on the door or at the desk where you pay. This seems to be the standard with most museums now (even free ones seem not to state that it's free on the homepage most of the time). It's 3 adult & 2 concessionary and I believe that do a family ticket for about 6 so the cost is only nominal. Overall this is a great place visit with very helpful staff and fully accessible to the disabled on all levels.
