Exceptional day laughing, swimming, and discovering the Ria Formosa! In celebration of a close friend's birthday we rented the 40-foot catamaran "FEEL GOOD" for the day. Captain João and his team Mario and Maria could not have been more accomodating and were always there to help. All three are native to the Algarve and speak English fluently, though if you want to practice your Portuguese they are patient to listen and assist. We were only seven guests and the boat can handle up to 18 adult guests, though I would personally never consider more than 14 as the beauty of the voyage is to take in the natural beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage Site and National Park. Part of our great day was also meeting and getting to know João and his team. João is native to the Olhão area and worked as a tourism agent for many years. He knows the region well and is enthusiastic to share his passion and knowledge. He knows boating and is a keen sportsman knowledeable about many subjects. Maria and Mario anticipated and responded quickly to our requests and needs. Whether for snack or beverage (!), glasses were kept full and always with a gleeming smile. During a break at a beach Mario worked discretely and efficiently first overseeing the anchoring of the boat and then distributing the numerous beach floats and paddle boards to the guests. I had the great opportunity to speak a bit with Mario whose passion is photography and who can be followed on instagram (@lilmjane, @mario_padinha, and @salt&seaboattours). And finally, we were all so impressed with the seamless transfer for lunch at Culatra Island when the Salt and Sea semi inflatable met the catamaran in the harbor and took us to the dock, meeting us again after lunch for the return to "FEEL GOOD." And we all still do.
