The location was very beautiful and rustic and peaceful. Steve and Deb were extremely helpful and very thoughtful. We stayed for a week, we rented canoes and canoed from the cabins to the ash river waterfalls. The view was picture perfect and quiet except for occasional boats. The ash river falls again was very scenic and gave the kids opportunity to wade in the water, climb rocks etc. We rented the pontoon from Steve and went to a day use site in the voyageurs national park . We had a picnic there , grilled food, swam in the lake . At night, we were able to stargaze from our cabin itself. The cabins are basic cabins, don't expect anything luxurious, expect the experience to be being close to nature. With very little wifi and no Verizon cell service, we were able to really take a break and have a very peaceful and beautiful vacation

Terrific location close to Voyageur NP. Excellent service. Steve was so kind to help us with our canoes, get us on pontoon rides and overall, they made us feel special. Very peaceful and relaxing stay. There is plenty to do nearby at Ash River Visitor center. Canoeing up to the Ash River Falls was a highlight and family friendly activity.
This lodge is the best! We had the Cedars cabin. Very clean and comfortable. The restaurant is wonderful! Great food, large portions, you can tell every ingredient is fresh. There were six of us and we all loved the meals! I know it sounds strange for a fishing lodge, but try the pizza! They will even make one and freeze for your drive home. With all that said, I saved the best for last. The customer service cannot be beat! Steve and his family/team are truly customer servants at heart. Any concerns we had were resolved immediately. They kept the boats gassed and maintained overnight so we could just get up and go fishing each morning. Bait, ice, beer, firewood, anything we needed they exceeded our expectations! The place is for sale and I wish them well, but if they still own it next year, I plan to go back!
We are finishing a GREAT vacation at Ash Trail Lodge! Our vacation started with a spectacular meal in the restaurant. The drinks, appetizers, burgers, pizza and steaks were delicious! Our cabin was so comfy, clean and well equipped/furnished. We spent lots of time out on the shaded deck playing games and visiting. We had people with walking difficulties in our party and were given a golf cart to get to and from the dock, around the resort, etc. Steve and Deb were so gracious and very helpful with suggestions for locations to go tubing, navigating the river and any other little thing that came up during our stay. Our family highly recommends Ash Trail Lodge for your next family vacation. Thank you Steve, Deb and staff!
The cabin was so clean and fresh, especially with the covid hoops we all have to jump through. The food was so good, I didn't want to leave. All of the staff was always at our beckon call. You guys are more than the best. Thank you.
We stayed 4 nights in the "State" cabin. I asked prior to booking about the cleanliness of the cabins and did note that we had small children. I was assured that it was a clean place to stay. The cabin was run down to say the least. There was a live exposed electrical outlet in the living room, light switches and fridge handles were black with filth, the shower curtain had hand prints on it and the shower head came to our chins (we are 6' & 6'2), one bedroom smelled like a sweaty old gym and the walls had marks all over them. We shut the door to that bedroom and 2 of us slept on air mattresses in the living room. MICE are everywhere burrowing in under the cabin, running around on the porch, and the back deck. (We live on a farm and don't see mice like this.) There is a set of sliding doors to the deck (lock is broke on the slider and you need to use a stick of wood to "lock it".) where they have placed an ill fitting screen door with large gaps at the bottom, sides and top that you use to go in and out to the deck. Mice and bugs can freely come into the cabin through these holes. The front door is the same way with about 2" of open space at the bottom where mice can run right in. Two days it was 92 degrees and we could not have the screen doors open for a breeze because of the mice. The cabin was 85 degrees at night with 2 fans running in the windows. The grill on the deck was full of cigarette butts and the path to the dock was full of thistles. We will never stay here again. We have been renting cabins for 15 years up in this area and this is by far the worst we have ever stayed in! I took several pictures of these conditions and will post them if I can.
Very accommodating and beautiful cabins and scenery is fantastic
Wonderful place to visit and enjoy! Hosts Tom and Debbie are the best.
