Sabona is rated 3 out of 5 in the category nonprofit organization management. Read and write reviews about Sabona. Sabona is a small Norwegian charity engaged in sustainable development through grassroots projects in Zimbabwe to meet challenges such as drought and hunger, today and in the future. The charity provides funds to construct boreholes, to improve health and education facilities, school meal programmes and HIV prevention. Our philosophy is to ensure that all donor funds go directly into the grass roots projects. Our simple organisation and the local population owning the projects create solid, effective and sustainable self-help projects. Long-term thinking is crucial to succeed, but this is not possible if basic needs are not being met. Therefore, Sabona believes education, health care and job opportunities are key focus areas. Sabona believes in giving children and youth the opportunity to create their own future. We believe that education is the way out of poverty and that together we can make a difference in people's lives. Sabona means "I see you." It is also how the local Ndebele people greet each other in Zimbabwe. Sabona is a non-political, non-government organization. We promote equality. We do not discriminate against people on grounds of sex, race, disability or religion. Please visit www.sabona.no for more information.
