We visited this place last year before the pandemic struck. Walked past this store when we were heading to otaru music box museum. The cake was really soft, fluffy and delicious. Will come back for sure

Visited during winter and tried their cheesecake. The cheesecake is light, smooth and has superb taste. The shop also sell other souvenirs as well. Tried their cheese ice cream and the taste is quite good. Recommended to visit Le Tao when you visit Otaru
The renowned dessert shop on Otaru. We went to the second floor cafe for their cake set menu, which you can have one of their three famous cakes and a drink, including tea, coffee and juice. We ordered a cheese and a chocolate cake. Both were fantastic with tea. The staff was friendly and helpful, providing us English menu as requested.
LeTAO might be one of the most popular bakery in Hokkaido and its fame radiates all over Japan. Living in Kyoto, I never miss a single Hokkaido fair just to enjoy their double fromage rare cheesecake, which is my all time favorite cheesecake. This is the main shop, but the company is so popular that they opened many other shops inside the city, each with is own specialties. In the main shop, you can take away some of their best selling products (including the infamous double fromage I mentioned above) on the first floor, and they have a cafe on the second floor. I really enjoyed the tea including ice wine flavor which was a very good combination with the cake late I ordered.
The air conditioning was spoilt today so they gave us paper fans, how thoughtful. The wait was not too long around 4 pm. The amazing cheesecake set and chocolate cake set were 1,404 each.
The best cheesecake in Hokkaido, they say. Definitely lives up to its name. Main store on ground floor while cafe is on upper floor, can get busy at times with waiting lines for cafe. Their cheesecake is a must try.
I love that they have free tastings here. The cafe was classy but expensive. I tried their cheese melon cake since I was so curious with the taste, which is great by the way.
Located at the terminus of Sakaimachi Street, opposite the Steam Clock. LeTAO is very generous with the free samples. Staff stand outside the entrance enticing visitors with free chocolates. Inside one can also taste the various biscuits and tea. Upstairs is a tea salon with WiFi. Every hour the clock tower will chime melodically. The melon cheese cake is great.
