Great central location but also quiet. Super polite and helpful staff. Large, comfortable rooms and beds. Wifi throughout and includes breakfast. The resultant is very much worth a visit. Their sauces are spot on and delicious no matter what you order. Proper pesto! Creamy sauces and flavorful spice use. Proper wood fire stove. Vegetarian options. Relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. This place is a delight.

Have stayed here twice and it’s a great hostel. Good WiFi, food (pizzas are great), and going up to see the rooftop view is amazing.

Doña Esther is a charming hotel centrally located in Otavalo. The rooftop terrace is a great place for views of the surrounding mountains. While it is not the cheapest option in Otavalo, the prices are fair. The clean, comfortable rooms, incredibly friendly and helpful staff and delicious included breakfast were certainly worth the few extra dollars that you may pay compared to some of the other hotels in the area. If you are staying there, don't miss out on the restaurant for lunch or dinner. The pizzas, as well as chicken and fish dishes that we tried were absolutely delicious! As my husband is Ecuadorian, we travel to Ecuador a lot and the next time we are in Otavalo, we will be staying at Doña Esther!

This quaint hotel has exactly what you'll need for a stay in Otavalo. The location can't be beat, if you're coming to town for the market. The rooms are decorated "on-theme" for the Andes with a small touch of dutch-style (from the owners). I loved the teal blue accents on the interior and the decorative blanket-like wall hangings, plus the many functional and soft blankets on the bed. Our room faced the street so it was a bit noisy on market day (Saturday) but otherwise didn't bother me at all. The rooftop terrace was a great spot to get above all the noise and relax. The breakfasts, included with the room, were filling and healthy. I also recommend having dinner in the hotel restaurant: the pizzas are genuinely very good!

Beautiful hostal. Rooms are basic but really nice, good (locally made) furniture and decorations, a lovely hot shower and very clean. Staff and owners are friendly and always ready to help. Very good restaurant, best meals I had in Ecuador.

Outstanding personal service. Authentic historic hostal/hotel. Rooms are small but comfortable and clean. We met the owners at dinner. They are an affable dutch couple. They let us keep our bags in our room past checkout time while we shopped in Otavalo and Cotacachi before going to Quito airport for flight back to US. The restaurant has a diverse and excellent menu. I highly recommend the pepper steak. Be sure to go to the upstairs balcony for 360 degree view of Otavalo.
