I went over to Merkley because they are the Ottawa specialists, I was making a concrete countertop. I told the salesman about my project, and also that I wanted color for the project. He showed me the colors, and I asked him to give me the amount I needed for the concrete I was getting. When I made the project, I used all of the product he sold me and this is where it gets the 2 star rating... When I made the concrete, the color was not what I expected, thinking it would dry darker. A week after, the bright orange countertop has not gotten darker to the dark red brick color it was supposed to be. I called the specialists at Merkley, explaining the situation, the person at the other end literally told me with a very arrogant tone that they wouldn't know how much to use and it is up to me to do the trial and error and he refused to provide any advice or solution, instead I was wasting his time. I had good past experiences with Merkley but my last two encounters were far from this, both times I felt I was bothering them. I just find it very unfortunate that I will have to start all over again as a new trial. And I will now have to become the expert for my project because such support does not seem to be available anymore. I'm very strong on supporting local shops, but I expect a decent service especially from a place who is supposed to be experts in their field. I hope my comments will help fixing the situation for the future.

So wanted to pick up some cement, and the company only takes credit cards, no debit or cash, I understand no cash as this is covid-19 but come on get a portable debit machine, put it on a stick like macdonalds does and you got your self acovi-19 distance kit! Wojtek support this company

I paid 100% up front for my stone and was given a delivery date. The date came and went. I contacted Merkley and found out they had no idea where my order was. A week went by before they did find it. Then another 4 days later my stone arrived. I lost my stone mason. I had to pay a premium for a second mason to complete, after hours, my clients project. I contacted Merkley again and was told this happens all the time with this supplier nothing they can do and also there is no tracking on orders or shipping confirmations. That would be great information to have instead of a delivery date and a client expecting finished project based on a date that wasn't going to be met. In the end the manufacturer was paid in full and Merkley was paid in full but neither followed through as a professional business would have having made a commitment and honoring that commitment.
