Great team of electricians. Punctual and courteous. I called in Mr. Electric to assess the condition of our home in the event of a lightning surge, they were very friendly, knowledgeable and gave us valuable tips to better care for electrical units. Thank you Mr. Electric.

I had a burning electronics smell coming from around my breaker box, so I called these guys. The worker they sent seemed to know what he was doing, which saves them from a poor rating, but... When I called I was informed of a 129tax non refundable fee just to send someone to my house. Fine. The first thing the guy did when he arrived, was to ask for an additional 150tax to perform an investigation. This is where I have a problem. They know their fee is actually 280tax. They know that people will call someone else if they ask for that much up front, so they break it into two. You're either out 150 if you send the guy home, or commit to 315 just to find out what's wrong. It's a completely dishonest business practice. I doubt I'd ever call them again.
The electrician did not show up for the appointment time that we had booked more than 2 weeks ago, and re-confirmed the day before. I'm not happy with the secretary of the company, for wasting a morning that I had taken off from work specifically to accommodate their restricted appointment times, and not being competent with prioritizing appointments during overlapping time slots. The electrician was supposed to show up at my home for 7am - 10 am Friday 29th June 2012 to provide a quote on major electrical renovations. 9:30 am rolled around, and the person still did not show up. The company did not provide me prior notice of any issues, and I had already returned their call the previous day to confirm the appointment, so was not expecting to be stood up. However, I made a courtesy call to their office at 9:30 am, to check if the person needed help with directions. The secretary who answered said that the electrician could no longer honour the appointment time, because she did not properly prioritize the appointments for today. She also complained that I was wasting her time by calling. Mr. Electric Ottawa is a poor company to deal with.
CUSTOMER BEWARE! the facts of my expereince are as follows: 1. Mr. Electric insisted on a deposit of 300 before starting the job we wanted. They DID NOT indicate it would be non-refundable. 2. When Mr. Electric arrived at our home, they were not prepared to do the work that day, and provided us with a quote for the entire job. That was ok, Problem is...they did not break down the high quote of 3000 dollars and said it was policy to not break down the cost. 3. We asked for our 300 refund as we did not get a breakdown of service, and no service was provided the day the electrician came to our home. 4. Mr. Electric avioded all calls and emails from us. When they finally responded, it was in the form of an unprofessional and rude email from their manager stating it was non-refundable and too bad. 5. Mr. Electric refused to reimburse our 300 deposit despite no service and despite our request within the 10 day cooling off period. Moral of my story is to be very careful when looking for an Electrician in Ottawa as some businesses lack proper business ethics.
After 2 calls to ask for a technician (no more electricity at home), and 2 hours waiting, they eventually called me back to tell me : nobody's available today and for the rest of the weekend... :-(
They use fear tactics and pressure sales to try and force your hand and sell you unnecessary products. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
