I came here often as a kid with my family and school. But I hadn't been in years. Wow. They really do such a beautiful job at keeping the sacred grounds clean and tidy. I enjoyed going to Mass in the American Indian style church and praying the rosary in front of the Pieta. The status, in general, and wonderful. It's such a nice time to get away from busy, daily life and escape to the woods for quiet prayer. I highly recommend this shrine for both locals as well as out-of-towners.

i was all excited driving up to this place. i love the old stairs, stone walls and statues. to get a picture of them was worth the 45 minute drive. but there is so much more to see here you could spend 4 or 5 hours here to soak it all in. the ground are kept well, the views are excellent and there is tons of history to learn. also i believe the total of all the grounds is 400 acres. the Coliseum i was told can hold up to 10,000 people. yes, it is impressive but way to big for me to worship in.

This is the place where 3 of the North American Jesuit Martyrs died at the hands of the Mohawks. If you know their story, the site will hold significance. On the other hand, even if you are not impressed by martyrs, it is still a lovely spot overlooking the Mohawk Valley. Out back is the Jesuit cemetery for the New York Jesuit Province. If you went to a Jesuit school in the New York area, your old teachers are likely buried here.
