Back in the community again and it felt like I never left. I love this place. It challenges you and if you’re not, then you end up like the others.

It's a slum community with most of their structures including residences built on water. It often attracts tourists in the social sector to explore the area and document it. The community is a dominantly a fishing one with other minor occupations by its inhabitants. No doubt, this is a major community that services the need of Lagos when it comes to fish market. The Makoko fish market for example is the most popular fish market in Lagos. There are other parts of the community where structures are on land with fairly moderate roads and street lights. I found that the drainage, health and waste management of the community is in dire need of help.

Makoko is a floating community, with floating schools, shops, homes. Bustling with activity!

Makoko community is a large area in lagos state, Nigeria that contains a good number of people. The place is one of the fish basket of lagos state, but it is a slum. Most of their activities are done on water and this make the area to be an eye sore. This community with a great number of people comprises of not only people around the area but also people from Badagry and the Ijaws. The place is not a very nice area to live and this is the reason why the government needs to contribute to the welfare of these people.
