I am a local Long Beach Geriatric Physician who sees patients in my clinic but also visit rehab facilities and nursing homes and I wanted to take a moment and write a review about Pacific Palms Healthcare Center and my experience here. The feel here, and not just myself but also experiences my patients have shared with me, is it is very family oriented. You do not feel like you are in a nursing home, rather, it feels like you are at home and getting therapy at home. Such a feeling comes because the staff is so great. Many of the staff have been there for many many years and that says a lot about how much they like where they work and of course when you like what you do and where you work, you are great at it and that is what makes Pacific Palms so great. Getting such personalized care and attention really helps the healing process and together with the great rehab team and nurses they have has led to the great outcomes I have experienced with them. I have personally been working closely with Carina at Pacific Palms and she has been my point contact and I can't say enough great things about her. Extremely responsive, reliable, huge patient advocate, and always available.

DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE HERE. These recent reviews talking about administration walking around and greeting people are all BS. How would anybody know this, seeing as there is absolutely zero visits allowed. Nobody can even go into witness this if it were happening, which I highly doubt it is seeing as my family member was treated terrible in this places and Lance knew nothing about it until I raised hell and demanded my family member be transferred. I believe these to fake reviews written by employees trying to save their sub-par facility from being shut down. The nurses are rude, unprofessional and are poorly educated. They can’t answer the simplest of questions regarding the patients condition. You’re left on hold for 30 minutes at a time on a regular basis, simply trying to get an update or speak to your loved ones. Did I mention there is only ONE phone per side that the patients can use? Meaning two phones total for the entire facility. They do not get a phone in there room. You will never be able to contact your loved ones without a huge hassle, and even then it’s questionable. They transferred my loved one without permission and before the scheduled time, leaving a period on time that we had no idea where my family member was. Not before he was left in hallway alone crying for over an hour though. Thank god he is now in a facility who is caring for him. Lance was apologetic for the situation, Toinette (Social worker) was amazing and helped me get my family member out quickly and without hassle, however none of this changes the fact that my family member has been traumatized this place and that nobody should have to live like that. Believe the other reviews. Fight for your family and make sure that they are in a place that will help them. Pacific Palms is NOT that place.
Having a loved one become ill can be life changing. A skilled rehab facility with an excellent staff can definitely help in this transition. Pacific Palms center is an excellent center in my opinion. What makes a center excellently my opinion is the staff. The staff at Pacific Palms is excellent. The Administrator there is Lance. I literally would like to commend him for his excellence! He is not the kind of Administrator that you never see when you visit your loved one. He is always visibly present. In fact, you may mistake him for someone else other than the Administrator. This is a good thing because it shows his level of care for the residents and the staff. He helps out very often with the residents. He greets the residents regularly to find out their concerns. I would imagine that most people in his position would seldom be seen. This is not the case with Lance. He has a team of good people working there who I have gotten to know very well. These people aid him in making sure everything runs smoothly. In addition, I would also like to thank Elaine, Elmira, Julian, Cheryl, Chula, Paul, Dr. Phillip, Leah, Delores, Marta, Kay, Martha, Kim, Sharon, Carol, Tonette, Janelly, Julita, Sherod, Jennifer Lopez, Imajen, Annaline, Justine, Alexis and many more. These are just some of the people who help to make this facility a great place for your loved one. I highly recommend Pacific Palms Rehab Center.
The patient was staying for rehab. They were excellent in taking care with medication and hygiene and during Corona virus were keeping patients safe as well as employees. The staff is short handed which causes the patient to wait for assistance with bathroom or moving them to sit. diaper changes were done but again long wait. The administration were nice and accommodating. However, the location of this place is not in a good location and patients are left to scream all night or day. If they could not eat by themselves the CNAs were not available to help them unless family members of the roommates were there. Good image is important. When the patient needed to be transferred personal items suddenly were lost. I ask myself why the staff find it necessary towards theft. I can only think it’s due to salary short comings. I don’t see Administration support to them.
