Beautiful. I am so proud that this amazing history and building was saved. I wish there were more like it. I am so proud that Paducah was a part of the Chitlin Circuit. It makes a person feel small knowing that a moral giant like Justice Marshall stood in the same hallway or a legend like Billie Holiday swept down those same stairs... The names, the star quality, the guests, the history-- We all need to remember it. It deserves to be recalled. Back when safe places were so hard to come by, Paducah had a couple and this one was a special one. Thank you to the family for donating this and for those whose take care of it. Everyone should visit and see it. It is lovely and well worth every minute.

As history goes The Hotel Metropolitan was the only hotel in Paducah, KY. where African-Americans could come and get the dust of the road off of them, and a great night of rest in the Jim Crow South. Metropolitan has played host to the least of these, and some of the greatest VIPs in; music, science, art, civil rights and the humanities from Jim Crow on. Step back in time to a nearly long gone era in our great nation's history. Though the road is long and winding the Hotel Metropolitan and History herself is always ready to; receive you, receive your fellow travelers and the passersby!
We loved it here and we felt as if we were home.. Ms Betty is so kind and wonderful. She shared the history of the hotel (which is awesome btw) and a few other things about the hotel. There's history on every wall, corner and shelves of the hotel. The hotel has a bright energy to it and is one of cleanest I've ever stayed in..We will definitely be back.
A hidden piece of American history in Paducah! This place had legendary visitors back in the day, including THE Tina Turner! They do tours with full historical performance with an amazing guide. Definitely recommend you give this place a tour!
This was an absolutely fantastic experience, and I would reccomend it to anyone who can arrange a visit. I believe visits are by appointment only. The amount of history here is incredible. The amount of love and effort put into restoring this and maintaining it is amazing. Out host was wonderful, colorful, knowlegable, and made the experience authentic. For those who have wheels, there are some stairs involved, which is somewhat unavoidable, so be prepared.
What a fantastic gem we have in PADUCAH! Betty and the staff are terrific and share so much incredible history. The food is top notch. We are very fortunate to have such history!!!
Wonderful historical hotel! Definitely in the green book. Betty was wonderful! She gave us a tour and all the history about the hotel.
