Industrialist and benefactor to his native town of Paisley

A

Alan Wallace

The Clark family are the original Paisley Rumpelstiltskin, credited with creating the method of spinning cotton into the thread which made the fortunes for both the Clark and Coats family who eventually twinned the companies which are still a multi billion company today. George A Clark is remembered by this statue for his philanthropic works within Paisley and with the town hall named after him, The Coats and the Clarks leave a lasting legacy. Unfortunately the business they created mostly left Paisley, no sentiment there, a boom and bust, not good for any economy
