This a remote place, a long journey is needed. It's less polluted and a less disturbed eco-system. One can have a good weekend away in here.

This is a beautiful Waterfalls located 16KM away from Nelliyampathy. Take a diversion from kaikatty junction to reach here. In rain season leach issue is there. There are 2 Waterfalls in karapara. Both are beautiful and easily accessible.

Typical depiction of nature. Nature's beauty hidden inside the woods with creeks, waterfalls and trees. A word of warning: Some of the places from photos shown in the map even with people in it may not be safe to go, especially during the rains. Forest officials may take action against you if found violating the rules. Warning signs have been explicitly placed at least at some spots narrating the accidents occurred. This is for the safety of the visitors. There are many locations where you don't need specific permissions. And for some, you won't get permission anyway. The waterfalls by the bridge is a relatively safer place. However, move cautiously when walking on the rocks by the sides of the falls. Please also note that as you go deeper into the woods, you'll find leeches (അട്ട/തോട്ടപുഴു). Keep moving in densely vegetated areas. Do not stand at one place for more than a few seconds. Keep handy a little amount of salt or snuff (മൂക്കിപൊടി) or tobacco leaves (പുകയില) and apply on the leech in case it bites you. Do not pull it off forcefully to remove it because doing so you might end up losing blood. Blood doesn't clot easily after a bite. It won't die off easily unless you completely rub it flat against the ground. If it hasn't bitten you, just leave it alone and move from the spot before the next gets on you :D Use good shoes for a safer walk, though leeches can get on quicker & far inside through the clothes than you might think. When you're out of the forest at an open space, check for them including the socks. Whilst these sounds like a little unsafe, almost of the places permitted to visiting are worthy to be at. Stay safe & Enjoy Nature.
