Shigmo Route in Panjim

The Shigmo is a colourful religious-spring festival that the Government of Goa sponsors each year, to showcase in cities and towns around Goa. What this showcasing means is a matter of debate. Does it help the festival? Does it convert it into an artificial, bottled plant? Whatever the case, I find it a lovely festival to photograph. Which is why I'm always trying my new cameras there.As the accompanying photographs will show. The route of the festival is quite long, starting near the Campal/Kala Academy area, going along 18th June Road and ending up with the prize-giving at the Azad Maidan. Though official timings will show an early start of the Shigmo parade, most participants of the floats want to make the best of their light effects, so prefer to wait till after sunset till the dancing and floats parade actually takes off....
