A wonderful modern and minimalist building, a nice and fresh cuisine for this huge restaurant belonging to the oldest abbey of Hungary!

We arrived with high expectations and left with disappointment. Starters of duck liver pate were a bit too sour (were thinking about being rotten), the mushroom carpaccio was overcrowded with greenery from the garden and not complex enough. Main courses are too small compared to their prices. 5k for a main means it should have some extra in it, but this unfortunately is just average quality - in comparison to similarly highly recommended top restaurants. (Note, a guy besides our table ordered a second main dish after being shocked by the size!) Chicken breasts with sweet potato gratin and creme were not matching at all. Dessert was ok, but again, embarrassingly small. Waiters were undereducated in high quality service, not ironed at all, three different clothes on three different waiters. A slightly below average food, below average service, well above average price. Please improve, because this is not enough at such a beautiful world heritage place of you want to signal good news to both foreigner and domestic tourists.
Viator is a fantastic introduction for anyone to the world of finer dining. In case you hesitate, just look at some of the dishes below. When it comes to the cuisine it is not as fancy as some of the flashiest restaurants in Budapest at the top of the yearly Gault Millau rankings, but nonetheless it is a regional treasure. Absolutely recommended.
Fantastic food, very high quality and everything fresh prepared and beautifully plated. Great view from both the inside because of the massive windows as well as from the terrace. Still reasonably priced. Server was really nice and speaks Hungarian, English and German. German menu available.
Extremely good service, fine food, fantastic wines.
This restaurant ticks the categories for ambience and views. Menu is on the pricier side. Food service could be a little quicker, we waited for 30 mins for our mains to arrive. The food itself Is very tasty but for the price that you pay, it could do with some polishing in balance of flavours and presentation.
Restaurant was half empty, and we waited for around 10 mins while waiters passed to even get seated. When the waiter realised we are tourists, he was visibly annoyed and shook his head, and explained that they do not have any menus for us. After another too long waiting period my partner asked if they happen to have anything vegetarian, he, again, was very annoyed and simply pointed to an item that he knew by now we could not read and then just left without taking our orders. We left right after. For a gourmet restaurant that is all but cheap, this was below even standards for a snack-stand. We do not recommend this restaurant. Staff is arrogant and rude to non Hungarians at least.
Absolutely recommend the degustation menu, with the wines.
