I have read others’ experiences, and some are quite unlike mine. French bassons rather than the German sort were my interest. I was received straightforwardly and professionally, and after a few excellent questions from the agent and a short wait, a lovely new B-C basson appeared (fresh with B-C sealing and tape, and to my delight with a new-style bonnet de resonance), which they had received for stock after a two-year wait for their order. The keys had tarnished a bit in the case (from the glue), so the basson will be polished in addition to regulation and testing. The accounting person knew from their systems who I was (after twelve years!), and she found and updated my data. The repair technician will have the instrument ready in a few days, which is normal. I spoke with three polite and professional people. As I say often (when abroad), “c’est pas McDo.” And McDonald’s, of course, does not have the expertise or depth or stock in question. If one wants “court etiquette,” well, perhaps these people do not have that (whatever it is supposed to be), but they understood me and provided answers and also what I hoped to find. They also helped others efficiently while I was there and waited, by my choice, so that shorter dealings had their complete attention and my longer one benefitted from the focus it needed. They were competent, correct, and pleasantly efficient for my significant matter.
